01 — Scope
Scope & Who We Are
Ludicrous Designs (“Ludicrous Designs”, “we”, “us”, “our”) is a design and AI studio based in Washington, DC and San Francisco, California. This policy does not apply to:

We do not collect or process sensitive personal information (such as government identifiers, precise geolocation, health or financial account information, or account credentials), and we do not use or disclose it to infer characteristics about you. Please do not send us information of this kind through our forms or by email.
03 — Use
How We Use Your Information
We may use your information to:
- Respond to inquiries
- Schedule consultations or assessments
- Evaluate potential projects
- Provide information about Ludicrous Designs’ services
- Improve our website, advertising, and services
- Understand how visitors discover and use our website
- Keep our website and business secure, and detect or prevent fraud, spam, and abuse
- Comply with our legal, tax, and accounting obligations, and establish, exercise, or defend legal claims
We will not sell your personal information for money.
Some US state privacy laws define “sale” and “sharing” broadly enough to include the use of third-party analytics and advertising cookies for cross-context behavioural advertising. To the extent our use of tools such as Google Ads falls within those definitions, you can opt out at any time using the controls in section 04 or by emailing us. We do not sell or share the personal information of anyone we know to be under 16.
Legal bases (UK and European Economic Area)
If you are in the UK or the EEA, we rely on the following legal bases:
- Legitimate interests — responding to enquiries, running and securing our website, understanding how it is used, and marketing our services to business contacts.
- Consent — non-essential cookies, and marketing emails where consent is required. You may withdraw consent at any time.
- Performance of a contract — taking steps at your request before entering into a contract, and performing one.
- Legal obligation — meeting our legal, tax, and accounting requirements.
06 — Processors
Third-Party Services & Links
We may use trusted third-party services to operate our website, manage communications, schedule meetings, measure advertising performance, and process form submissions.
These may include services such as Google Analytics, Google Ads, Google Tag Manager, email and email-hosting providers, scheduling platforms, and website infrastructure and hosting providers.
These services may process information according to their own privacy policies. We select providers we consider reputable and, where required, put contracts in place limiting them to processing personal information on our instructions.
Our website may link to third-party websites, products, or platforms that we do not control. We are not responsible for their content, security, or privacy practices, and this policy does not apply to them. We encourage you to read the privacy policy of any site you visit.
07 — AI
AI-Assisted Tools
We are an AI studio, and we use AI-assisted tools in our own work. We may use them to help triage, summarise, organise, and draft responses to enquiries. Where we do, we use business or enterprise tiers configured so that submitted content is not used to train general-purpose models.
We do not make decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects about you solely by automated means. A person at Ludicrous Designs reviews and is responsible for our communications and decisions about potential engagements.
08 — Client Work
Client & Project Information
This policy covers our own website and general business enquiries. It does not govern personal information that we process on behalf of a client — for example, data held in a system we design, build, integrate, or operate for that client.
For that work, the client is the controller and Ludicrous Designs acts as a processor or service provider. Our handling of that information is governed by our agreement with the client — typically a master services agreement, statement of work, data processing agreement, or non-disclosure agreement — and not by this policy.
If you are an end user or customer of one of our clients and have a question about your personal information, please contact that company directly. If you contact us, we will forward your request to them where we can, but we cannot act on it ourselves without their instruction.
09 — Retention
Data Retention
We retain personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary to respond to inquiries, manage potential or active business relationships, comply with legal obligations, and improve our services.
In deciding how long to keep information, we consider:
- The nature and status of our relationship, and whether an enquiry became an engagement
- Legal, tax, accounting, and contractual retention requirements
- Whether we may need it to establish, exercise, or defend legal claims
- The need to maintain accurate business and financial records
When information is no longer needed, we delete it or de-identify or aggregate it so that it can no longer reasonably be associated with you.
10 — Your Rights
Your Choices & Privacy Rights
You may request that we update or delete personal information you have provided to us by contacting us.
You may also choose not to provide optional information through our forms. If you receive marketing email from us, you can opt out using the unsubscribe link in the message or by replying and asking us to stop.
If you are a US state resident
Depending on where you live — including California, Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, Utah, Texas, Oregon, and other states with comprehensive privacy laws — you may have the right to:
- Know what personal information we have collected, used, and disclosed about you
- Access a copy of it, or receive it in a portable format
- Correct inaccurate personal information
- Delete personal information we hold about you
- Opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information, targeted advertising, and profiling with legal or similarly significant effects
- Not be discriminated against for exercising any of these rights
If you are in the UK or the EEA
You may have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to our processing of your personal information, to receive it in a portable format, and to withdraw consent where we rely on it. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority, or with the UK Information Commissioner’s Office.
If you are in Taiwan
Under the Personal Data Protection Act, you may have the right to review and make copies of your personal information, to supplement or correct it, to request that we cease collecting, processing, or using it, and to request its deletion.
How to exercise your rights
Email alexander@ludicrousdesigns.com and tell us what you would like us to do. We may need to ask for information to verify your identity before we act, and we will only use what you give us for that purpose. An authorised agent may submit a request on your behalf with proof of authorisation.
We will respond within the time required by applicable law — generally 45 days for US state requests and one month for UK and EEA requests — and will tell you if we need more time. Exercising these rights is free unless a request is manifestly unfounded or excessive.
Appeals. If we decline your request and your state’s law provides a right of appeal, you may appeal by replying to our response with the word “Appeal” and your reasons. We will respond within the period your state’s law requires. If we deny your appeal, you may contact your state Attorney General.
11 — Transfers
International Data Transfers
We are based in the United States, and our service providers are primarily located there. If you contact us or use our website from outside the United States, your information will be transferred to, stored in, and processed in the United States, which may have data protection laws that differ from those in your country.
Where we transfer personal information out of the UK or the EEA, we rely on appropriate safeguards, such as the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses and the UK International Data Transfer Addendum, or another lawful transfer mechanism.
12 — Security
Security
We take reasonable measures to protect the information submitted to us. However, no internet-based system can be guaranteed to be completely secure.
Email is not an encrypted medium. Please do not send us passwords, credentials, payment card or financial account details, government identifiers, or health information by email or through our forms. If you need to share something sensitive with us, contact us first and we will arrange a secure method.
13 — Children
Children’s Privacy
Our website and services are directed to businesses and business professionals, not to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
14 — Applicants
Job Applicants
If you apply for a role with us or send us a portfolio or résumé, we collect the information in your application and use it to evaluate your candidacy, communicate with you, and keep a record of our hiring decisions.
We retain applications for up to two years so that we can consider you for future roles, unless you ask us to delete them sooner.
15 — Updates
Updates
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date.
If we make a material change to how we handle personal information, we will take reasonable steps to bring it to your attention. Your continued use of our website after an update takes effect means you are subject to the revised policy.
